Carly & Dave’s World Adventure Blog

On 4th May we were graced with the presence of Sarah and Jonno, who have come over to Australia to go up the east coast.  We had a really nice time and took a couple of days off work.

On the first day we headed to Circular Quay so that they could revisit the bridge and Opera House etc and take the usual tourist photos!  They were keen to see where they used to live, so we explored the city a bit and ended up in Darling Harbour for lunch.  After lunch we went to Bondi to begin the walk to Coogee.  We never tire of doing that walk – it’s so lovely.

At Bondi beach I (Carly) was delighted to see the lifeguards from Bondi Rescue (a TV show in Australia) having their photos taken on the beach.  We watch the show every week – it’s quite good   After the walk we went out for a nice dinner at Barzura, a nice restaurant next to Coogee beach.

The next day, we hired a car and went up to Palm Beach.  It was such a lovely day and the first time Dave and I have seen the beach in the perfect sunshine.  It looked so lovely and despite it being winter in Australia we all got in the sea.  It was really warm (22 degrees!).  Dave went surfing, while me, Sarah and Jonno had a go on the bodyboard.

Whilst wandering around Palm Beach, we made an amazing discovery.  The cast of Home and Away were filming.  Sarah and I went over to watch and saw Leah and Miles doing a scene over and over again next to the beach.  THEN… we were told we were in the background of a scene and we shouldn’t look at the camera.  As you can imagine, this made our day – fame at last!  We continued to follow the crew around and saw some more of the actors in different areas of Palm Beach.  Going there on a weekday certainly pays off .  On the way home we dropped into Manly and had a cup of tea on the beach, as we English people do.

According to Home and Away staff our episode will be aired week beginning 24th August in Australia – England is approx 1 month behind.  I’ll keep you informed!  It was really nice to see Sarah and Jonno.  We hope they are enjoying their trip up the coast.
